$79.00
Gives safe water for 1 family
Gift Description:
$79 provides a family with clean water system, including the cost of delivery, two buckets, a filtration system, hose, and training on how to maintain the system so it provides a lifetime of safe water. Compassion Water of Life, a safe-water filtration system, can provide safe water for life for a family in poverty. When you give to Compassion Water of Life, you are not only giving safe drinking water, but you are also protecting a child from life-threatening diseases and allowing that child to go to school, to dream and reach his or her full potential. 1 in 10 people do not have access to clean drinking water, which kills nearly 1,400 children a day. Every 15 seconds, a child dies from a water-related disease. This gift provides access to clean water for one person. A foundational element of life, water is used daily for cooking, cleaning and drinking. Dirty water harbors parasites and diseases that can cause debilitating ailments, developmental problems, and even death. In addition to the dangers of drinking dirty water, families must often walk many miles to the nearest water source, subjecting them to the elements, assault, and harassment. Even in regions prone to natural disasters, water infrastructure has proven to be a smart investment, sometimes reducing flood damage or disease rates among survivors. For every $1 invested in water and sanitation, an average of $4 is returned in increased productivity.
